SUMMARY:Marion County Child Abuse Prevention Events
DESCRIPTION:The Marion County Heartland Coalition is encouraging community 
 members to get involved in upcoming efforts to support children and famili
 es\, with two informational and training events scheduled in March.\nThe f
 irst event\, CASA 101\, will take place on Wednesday\, March 12\, at 4:00 
 p.m. at the Marion County Public Library.   The session is hosted by CASA 
 of the Lincoln Trail and will provide information about the role Court App
 ointed Special Advocates play in supporting children involved in the court
  system. The session is designed for anyone interested in learning how the
 y can volunteer to advocate for children in need.\nThe coalition will also
  host a Community Approach to Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect Training 
 on March 19.   The training will focus on ways communities can work togeth
 er to recognize risk factors\, strengthen families\, and help prevent abus
 e and neglect before it occurs.\nOrganizers say additional activities and 
 opportunities are being planned for April\, and more information will be r
 eleased in the coming weeks.
