Event Type

This year twenty-one 4-H members will be auctioning off a ham. The proceeds from each ham will be split between the 4-H member and their family and the Marion County 4-H Livestock Club. 80% of the proceeds will go directly to the 4-H member and their family. These funds can go towards paying for their 4-H country ham project fee for the next year. The remaining 20% will go to the Marion County 4-H Livestock Club for the 4- H Country Ham Project Fund. There is quite a bit of cost that goes into the 4-H country ham project each year. Last year it included a new air conditioning unit and insulation for the ham house.

It is our goal for all twenty-one 4-H’ers to successfully sell their ham. Bidders can be a single business or individual or multiple businesses and individuals that come together to purchase the ham in support of a 4-H member. If multiple businesses or individuals plan to come together to purchase a ham, this must be disclosed at registration.

It is our hope you will attend the auction and will consider purchasing a ham in support Marion County 4-H and its 4-H members. Checks must be written to the “Marion County 4-H Livestock Club” and can be considered as a tax-deductible donation for any amount over the base value of the ham.

We are asking for bidders to pre-register, if possible, to ensure a smooth check-in process. To pre-register, please contact Paighton Livers at plivers13@outlook.com by Friday, September 20. Pre-registration is not required but encouraged. Bidders will also be able to register the morning of the auction. If you have any questions or would like to support all twenty-one 4-H members or the Marion County 4-H Country Ham Fund, please feel free to contact Paighton Livers, Marion County 4-H Country Ham Volunteer, at (270) 972-9153 and plivers13@outlook.com. Thank you for your continued support of Marion County 4-H and the country ham project. We appreciate your support
