There will be a Benefit Auction for Angela Miles on Saturday, April 22, 2023 beginning at 5 p.m.
In 2008, when her son was about 11 years old, she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. Angela underwent a mastectomy, and 4-5 months of an aggressive chemotherapy. She has been in a stage called “ No evidence of disease “ up until last year.
Angela had a cough that became very aggressive and she would become short of air. She had been to the doctor 3 times in 2 weeks and they were thinking it was just a bad allergy season. She then started realizing it was something else. The doctor ordered bloodwork and the next day the office called and said she needed go to the ER. Angela had Cardiac Tamponade which tends to be fatal. She spent 3 days in ICU with a pericardial drain. Angela was then transferred to Louisville to have a pericardial window to keep the tamponade from returning. She spent 2 weeks in the hospital, with 2 chest tubes from surgery for 4-5 days. Then came the devastating diagnosis of stage 4 breast cancer. Angela had chemo a day and a half later in which she had anaphylaxis with the 3rd drug, landing her back in the ER and another 2 days in the hospital. Angela is still doing chemo and does not have an end date for going on maintenance.
Angela had been off work for a month but is currently scheduled 24 hours a week. Hoping she is able to return to full time in the future. Her boss has been wonderful, as has the secretary. Angela is very grateful to work with these two and to have that support network in her job.
Angela is hoping to qualify for a clinical trial in the future that may help her. She’s also hoping, even if it is out of state, that she is able to travel to be a part of it.
Please come out and show your support.
