Marion County Patriot Day Ceremony
It’s the first annual Marion County Patriot Day Ceremony, and it’s set to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021. The ceremony will be held at the Loretto City Park, on School House Drive, in Loretto, KY.
The event is sponsored by Beautify Loretto and the City of Loretto, and a reception will follow at Loretto City Hall afterward.
The event is a September 11 Day of Remembrance, and is also being organized as a day of remembrance for local fallen heroes.
Fallen heroes to be recognized include Iraq War casualty Sgt. Jonathan Adam Hughes, and Marion County Sheriff Deputy Carl Anthony Rakes.
Organizers also say it’ll be an opportunity to recognize “those who serve and protect us every day.”
The speaker will be Command Sgt. Major Carl M. Sheckles, Jr., Army Reserve Aviation Command, Fort Knox.
Among the many participants: the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard, the Loretto Fire Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, the Marion County Rescue Squad, and many more.
The public is not only invited to attend, it’s urged to attend.
