The Marion County Heartland Coalition is encouraging community members to get involved in upcoming efforts to support children and families, with two informational and training events scheduled in March.
The first event, CASA 101, will take place on Wednesday, March 12, at 4:00 p.m. at the Marion County Public Library. The session is hosted by CASA of the Lincoln Trail and will provide information about the role Court Appointed Special Advocates play in supporting children involved in the court system. The session is designed for anyone interested in learning how they can volunteer to advocate for children in need.
The coalition will also host a Community Approach to Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect Training on March 19. The training will focus on ways communities can work together to recognize risk factors, strengthen families, and help prevent abuse and neglect before it occurs.
Organizers say additional activities and opportunities are being planned for April, and more information will be released in the coming weeks.
